Lifeline Services

Industry Telephone Company offers Lifeline Service which makes monthly telephone or broadband service more affordable for eligible households within our service territory.

Lifeline Service is a government assistance program which provides monthly discounts to an eligible customer’s voice telephony service (home or wireless) or broadband service (home or wireless), but not both.  Eligible customers can also receive toll blocking at no charge. 

Lifeline Service Eligibility

You are eligible for Lifeline Service if your annual household income is at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines for the federal discount, 150% of the federal poverty guidelines for the state discount (voice only), or a person who resides in your household who receives or has a child who receives benefits from at least one of the following programs:

  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
  • Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)(state only discount)
  • Health benefits coverage under the state Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)(state only discount)
  • National School Lunch Program’s free lunch program (state only discount)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)(state only discount)

The current discount provided under Industry’s Lifeline service is $9.25 for the federal discount and $3.50 plus an additional Lifeline Area Discount of $.38 for the state discount per month for each month that the customer qualifies.

If your household is eligible through a qualifying program, you will be automatically enrolled in Lifeline.  If you have telephone service and participate in one of the qualifying programs and you are not receiving Lifeline benefits, please contact the Low Income Discount Administrator (LIDA) at 1-866-454-8387.

If your household meets the federal poverty guidelines, you may apply to receive Lifeline Service by requesting a self-enrollment form from the LIDA.  The self-enrollment form must be completed by the applicant and mailed to:  LITE-UP Texas, 1779 Wells Branch Pkwy, Suite 110B #357, Austin, TX  78728-7022.
Please note that the Lifeline Service is limited to one discount per household.  A household is everyone who lives in the home (including children and people who are not related to the customer) and shares income and household expenses (bills, food, etc.).  A customer with Lifeline Service may not transfer the Lifeline benefit to another person.
